Netanyahu’s response shattered the myth these 142 nations had wrapped themselves in. He revealed the 99-9 Knesset vote proving 90% of Israelis reject this imposed solution. He deployed the Al-Qaeda analogy that exposed the absurdity of rewarding October 7’s perpetrators with statehood. He vindicated Egypt’s decades-old decision to wall off Gaza—a prophetic act that proved Palestinians don’t want a state *next to* Israel, they want a state *instead of* Israel.

But then Netanyahu did something that made delegates storm out of the General Assembly hall. He didn’t just challenge the two-state consensus or expose how Hamas weaponizes civilian casualties to manufacture genocide charges. He traced a direct historical line from medieval Europe to modern America, from well-poisoning accusations in 1349 to genocide charges in 2025, from the Strasbourg massacre to Boulder, Colorado.

Netanyahu exposed something far more sinister than failed diplomacy: the same antisemitic patterns that murdered Jews for 700 years had simply changed costumes. The medieval charges of poisoning wells and using Christian children’s blood for Passover matzah had evolved into modern accusations of “genocide” and “starvation policy.” Even when Israel achieves a 2:1 casualty ratio that exceeds all NATO standards, even when Israel delivers 2 million tons of humanitarian aid, the blood libel persists.

And he had receipts. Not just from medieval history books, but from Boulder, Colorado and Washington DC—where Holocaust survivors were being burned alive and Israeli embassy workers gunned down outside the Holocaust Museum. The consequences of these modern blood libels weren’t theoretical. They were claiming Jewish lives on American soil, even as Western leaders rewarded Palestinian terrorism with statehood recognition.

“Those who peddle the blood libels of genocide and starvation against Israel are no better than those who peddled blood libels against the Jews in the Middle Ages,” Netanyahu declared, his voice cutting through the assembly chamber, “when they falsely accused us of poisoning wells, spreading plague, and using the blood of children to bake Passover matzas.”

The comparison wasn’t rhetorical flourish. It was documented historical analysis.

The Medieval Blueprint: When Jews Were Blamed for the Black Death

These weren’t isolated incidents by fringe elements. They became institutionalized within Christian society. Medieval poet Geoffrey Chaucer incorporated blood libel themes into The Canterbury Tales. Martin Luther, the Protestant Reformation’s architect, accepted Jewish use of Christian blood as established fact in his 1543 work On the Jews and Their Lies—writings that Hitler would quote four centuries later.

Some of the falsely accused children were even granted sainthood. William of Norwich, Hugh of Lincoln, and Simon of Trent became objects of religious cults, with miracles attributed to them. The veneration of these “martyrs” spread the blood libel narrative across Italy, Germany, and Austria.

Medieval Jews were accused of murdering Christian children in ritualistic blood sacrifice. Modern Israel is accused of deliberately targeting Palestinian children in a campaign of genocide. Never mind that Col. John Spencer, head of urban warfare studies at West Point, stated Israel applies more measures to minimize civilian casualties than any military in history. Never mind the 2:1 civilian-to-combatant ratio—far lower than NATO achieved in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The medieval pattern was: Create an unprovable negative (Jews didn’t poison wells, but how do you prove you didn’t do something?), extract confessions through torture, execute the accused, seize their property. The modern pattern is: Create an unprovable negative (Israel’s warnings to evacuate aren’t “genuine”), rely on Hamas casualty figures with zero verification, condemn Israel in international courts, impose sanctions and arms embargoes.

Same structure. Different era. Identical hatred.

When Blood Libels Have Consequences: From Colorado to Washington DC

The Boulder Holocaust Survivor Who Escaped Hitler But Not Hamas Supporters

On June 1, 2025—just weeks before the UN vote on Palestinian statehood—a 45-year-old Egyptian immigrant named Mohamed Sabry Soliman attacked a peaceful solidarity walk for Israeli hostages in Boulder, Colorado. Using a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, he set fire to participants who were simply walking and reciting the names of hostages.

Among the twelve victims burned that day was 88-year-old Barbara Steinmetz—a Holocaust survivor.

Let that sink in. A woman who survived the Nazi attempt to exterminate European Jewry, who fled from Italy to Hungary to France to Portugal in the 1930s and 40s, who finally found safety in America, was set on fire in Boulder, Colorado in 2025 by a man yelling “Free Palestine.”

Steinmetz spent much of her childhood fleeing fascism, operating on the banks of the Adriatic before Mussolini stripped Italian Jews of citizenship in 1938. Nearly nine decades later, she was burned by an attacker who told investigators he wanted to “kill all Zionist people.”

The attack claimed one fatality: 82-year-old Karen Diamond, a member of Boulder’s Bonai Shalom synagogue who had helped refurbish the building after a 2013 flood, died from her injuries 24 days after the assault.

Soliman posed as a gardener to get close to the group. He planned the attack for weeks. He told police he had “no regrets” and wanted his victims to die. Authorities found 16 unused Molotov cocktails at the scene.

This wasn’t spontaneous rage. This was premeditated terror, inspired by the exact narrative Netanyahu identified in his Netanyahu UNGA speech: that Israel’s defensive war constitutes genocide, that Zionism equals Nazism, that Jews—anywhere in the world—are legitimate targets.

The Engaged Couple Murdered Outside a Holocaust Museum

If the Boulder attack showed how Holocaust survivors remain targets in modern America, the Washington DC shooting three weeks earlier revealed something even darker: the systematic hunting of Jews who work for peace.

On May 21, 2025, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim—a young couple planning to get engaged the following week in Jerusalem—left a “Young Diplomats Reception” at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC. The event was designed to foster unity among Jewish young professionals and the diplomatic community.

They never made it home.

Elias Rodriguez, a 31-year-old from Chicago, fired 20 shots at them with a semi-automatic handgun as they exited the museum. Surveillance footage captured the horror: after the initial shots, Rodriguez followed Milgrim as she tried to crawl away, firing again at close range. He reloaded while she attempted to sit up, then fired multiple additional shots.

Lischinsky, 30, was a German-Israeli who had moved to Israel at 16, working as a research assistant at the embassy monitoring Middle East developments. Milgrim, 26, was an American working in public diplomacy, organizing missions to Israel. Before joining the embassy, she had worked for Tech2Peace in Tel Aviv—an organization providing tech training and conflict dialogue to young Palestinians and Israelis.

Read that again: Sarah Milgrim dedicated her career to building bridges between Israelis and Palestinians. She worked for peace. She sought understanding.

She was murdered anyway.

After shooting them, Rodriguez walked into the museum, pulled out a red keffiyeh, and announced: “I did it. I did it for Gaza.” As police arrested him, he shouted “Free, free Palestine” and “Shame on Zio-nazi terror.”

Federal charges filed against Rodriguez included hate crime resulting in death, murder of foreign officials, and terrorism. Multiple charges carry the death penalty. Investigators later discovered he had written a manifesto attempting to morally justify the killings and inspire others to commit political violence.

Both victims were staff members, not diplomats. Neither participated in military operations. Lischinsky advocated for interfaith dialogue. Milgrim worked on climate change and peacebuilding initiatives.

They were hunted down and executed outside a Holocaust museum for the crime of being Jewish and working for Israel’s embassy.

This is what happens when blood libels go mainstream.

The Reward Mechanism: Recognizing Palestine After Massacre

The Netanyahu UNGA speech reserved its harshest condemnation for Western leaders who, Netanyahu argued, had learned nothing from history.

“Here in America, an elderly Holocaust survivor was burned to death in Colorado,” he said. “And a beautiful young couple from the Israeli Embassy in Washington was brutally gunned down right in front of the Holocaust Museum there.”

“This week, the leaders of France, Britain, Australia, Canada and other countries unconditionally recognized a Palestinian state,” Netanyahu declared. “They did so after the horrors committed by Hamas on October 7th—horrors praised on that day by nearly 90% of the Palestinian population.”

The timing was deliberate, the message unmistakable. Britain, France, Canada, Australia, and Portugal recognized Palestinian statehood in late September 2025—days after Rodriguez murdered Lischinsky and Milgrim in Washington DC, weeks after Soliman set a Holocaust survivor on fire in Boulder, months after the October 7 massacre that killed 1,200 Israelis and saw 251 taken hostage.

“You know what message the leaders who recognized a Palestinian state this week sent to the Palestinians?” Netanyahu asked. “It’s a very clear message. Murdering Jews pays off.”

He wasn’t engaging in hyperbole. He was describing observable cause and effect: Accuse Israel of genocide → Palestinian terrorists massacre Israeli civilians → Western nations reward Palestinians with statehood recognition → antisemitic violence in Western capitals increases.
Netanyahu’s warning was prophetic. Just weeks after his UNGA speech, on December 14, 2025, a father-son duo opened fire on Jews celebrating the first night of Hanukkah at Sydney’s Bondi Beach. The attackers—50-year-old Sajid Akram from Hyderabad, India, and his 24-year-old son Naveed—killed 15 people including a 10-year-old girl and wounded 42 others. Among the dead was Rabbi Eli Schlanger, who had organized the “Hanukkah by the Sea” event for over 1,000 celebrants.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it “an act of pure evil, an act of antisemitism, an act of terrorism.” But Netanyahu had warned Albanese three months earlier in August 2025: “Your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on the antisemitic fire. It rewards Hamas terrorists. It emboldens those who menace Australian Jews and encourages the Jew hatred now stalking your streets.”
Three months after that warning, less than three months after Western leaders recognized Palestine, Jews were massacred at a Hanukkah celebration on one of Australia’s most iconic beaches. The blood libel boomerang had struck again—this time on the opposite side of the planet from Boulder.

“Your disgraceful decision will encourage terrorism against Jews and against innocent people everywhere,” Netanyahu told the Western leaders. “It will be a mark of shame on all of you.”

As he spoke, dozens of delegates walked out. Some clapped as they left. The Palestinian, Iranian, Saudi, Qatari, and Indonesian delegations departed in protest. The U.S. delegation stayed—but sent only low-level diplomats to fill the seats.

Why Blood Libels Work: They Require Proving a Negative

“Western leaders may have buckled under the pressure. I guarantee you one thing. Israel won’t.”

Medieval Jews followed the principle of treating their neighbor as themselves, even as neighbors massacred them. Modern Israel follows the same principle—granting full citizenship and equal rights to 18% Muslim and Arab population, the same people who once kept Jews as dhimmis—but refuses to be ethnically cleansed, organizing the defensive capability they always possessed but once chose not to use.

This is the civilizational test Netanyahu identified: Can you uphold your principles toward those whose principles deny your right to exist?

The Netanyahu UNGA speech worked because it named the pattern everyone sees but Western elites refuse to acknowledge. From medieval accusations of well-poisoning to modern charges of genocide, from Strasbourg’s massacre to Boulder’s Holocaust survivor set ablaze—the same hatred runs through it all.

Recognize the pattern. Name it. Refuse to accept it.

That’s what Netanyahu did on September 26, 2025. And that’s why half the General Assembly walked out. They didn’t leave because his argument was wrong. They left because it was right.

The antisemitism boomerang has returned from medieval Europe to modern America, from well-poisoning accusations to genocide charges, from Strasbourg to Boulder. The Netanyahu UNGA speech exposed what 700 years of Jewish persecution teaches: the accusations change, the hatred doesn’t. The difference is modern Israel’s refusal to play the victim role assigned by history.
