The Surya Siddhanta calculated the sidereal year to within 3 minutes 26 seconds of modern atomic-clock values — using instruments made of wood, metal, and shadow. This is Ugadi Panchanga Precision in its oldest documented form.

It also has wide practical use. The Panchanga is not limited to rituals; it influences agriculture, seasonal patterns, and social life even today. Because of its long continuity, multi-layered structure, and real-world application, it stands as one of the most comprehensive calendrical systems still in use.
